Los Angeles, CA…The exhibition “Painting as a Site” will open at Sixteen:One gallery on Saturday, March 1, 2003 with a reception from 6 – 9 p.m. Featuring paintings by four artists who are currently locating the site of painting through its medium and historical specificity. The participants in this show display a dedication into an ongoing investigation of formal issues within their practices, inhabiting the position of painting for a closer investigation into the possibilities that have been historically left out. Artists included in the show are, Eric Allan Bene, Jake Funk, Ed Gomez, and Stan Kaplan. The exhibition will run through April 6th.
