about the show

Sixteen:One gallery is pleased to present Ice Light and Shadows, a site-specific installation by Swedish artist Tina Eskilsson. The exhibition opens October 14th, and runs through November 11th. A reception for the artist will be held October 14th, from 7-10. The artist will also be available for questions and conversation in the gallery from 10-5 on Sunday, October 15th.

Playing off of Swedish mythology, Eskilsson creates a dramatic visual installation of ice, water, light and sound within the darkened gallery space. The shadows and light form moving patterns that create unlimited variations, capturing the passage of time and evoking a sense of longing and wonder. Accompanying the installation are paintings that play with the myth of Sweden as an artic country.
